Encrypted local vault

The vault is locked or has not been created. Notes are encrypted before being stored in this browser. There is no password recovery.

Privacy and security

Default behavior: Procedure templates and the current draft run in the browser. The draft is not persistently stored unless the encrypted vault is unlocked and used.

Encrypted vault: Notes are encrypted locally with a passphrase-derived AES-GCM key. V10 creates and upgrades vaults using PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA-256 with 600,000 iterations. The passphrase and decrypted notes remain in memory only while the vault is unlocked. Clearing browser data, forgetting the passphrase, or deleting the vault can permanently remove drafts.

Screen protection: Manual and configurable inactivity hiding cover the display and lock an unlocked vault. Resume does not authenticate the user, so workstation access controls still matter.

Identifier warning: Automated review checks a short list of common direct-identifier patterns. It can miss identifiers and can flag harmless text. It is not a de-identification service.

Appropriate use: Use the dental software as the authoritative patient record. Complete a documented risk analysis and obtain all required agreements before processing identifiable patient information through any web service.
